Friday Faves (Metallic Gold)

I’ve decided to start a new feature on my blog. It’s not an original idea, but I keep seeing things on the internet that I want to share with you. So instead of spamming your facebook feed all the time .. with ‘look at this’ , ‘check this out’; I’ve decided to make a new ‘Friday Faves’ feature. I can’t promise that it will happen every Friday, but I can promise that it will be on (some) Fridays and it will be fabulous.

I’m also wanting to have an emphasis on featuring things that are both affordable and accessible (especially to us Kiwis), with an emphasis on handmade and Kiwi businesses. While there are only a couple of items from NZ businesses featured this time round, I hope to increase this in the future. Affordability wise, you will notice that all of the items featured here (apart from the watch) are under the NZD$50 (including shipping) – and yay for ASOS with their FREE shipping (Worldwide!)

I’ve had a bit of fascination with gold recently and have recently acquired items two, four and six. I hope you like these items as much as I do, enjoy:

Friday Faves (Golden)

ONE:   Gold Wool Felt Coasters from Etsy

TWO:   "Karosel" ballet flat by Steve Madden for Hannahs

THREE:   Pull & Bear Cross Body Bag in Gold - via ASOS

FOUR:  Olivia Burton Watch - via ASOS

FIVE:  "Hello Gorgeous" Gold Print - via Etsy

SIX: Little Goldies Decals from Pop Factory Shop

SEVEN: Metallic Washi Tape from Pop Roc Parties

And if you want to win TWO of these gorgeous : Little Goldies Decals from Pop Factory Shop for yourself then head over to my giveaway, it ends TODAY! (Sorry open to Kiwis only)

Are there any trends you’re crushing on at the moment, or is there anything you think I should feature? Please comment below or drop me a line at noahandisy(at)gmail(dot)com.

Bits & Pieces

(from the last couple of weeks)

DSC_1368DSC_1477DSC_1482DSC_1493DSC_1526DSC_1549DSC_1553DSC_1331

1. She was playing on a picnic blanket, it blew over her. She wasn’t too sure what to make of it. I love that quizzical look.

2. We are continually decorating the walls. This is from Noah and Isy’s room – and features their little gallery (gosh that old blog post is from 2 years ago now!) You might also notice the ‘La la la loved’ little goldie wall decal from Pop Factory Shop … if you live in NZ and haven’t already please enter my GIVEAWAY here. The winner will receive TWO of these gorgeous decals.

3. Our broccoli heads are sprouting. They are much bigger now than when I took this photo a couple of weeks ago.

4. The kid’s received a pretty awesome letter from Auntie Holly, complete with a proper wax seal. More on this in another post.

5. Watching the cricket (I’m a long time fan.) Brendan McCullum got 300 runs so naturally I took a photo of the TV. Also we pretty much have the oldest ‘flat screen’ in existence. It was cutting edge technology when we bought it in our pre-kids days.

6-7. Art Deco Out-takes

8. She has 7 teeth now. Such a happy chappy.

8/52 (Impromptu Art Deco)

Each year Napier holds an Art Deco weekend, it’s a pretty huge event. Last time we went (a couple of years ago), I wrote this blog post about it.

Although I love the idea of dressing up, get involved in the events etc, the reality of the busy crowds, packed carparks and sweltering heat is not always the most ideal with young kids (besides it’s not really my husband’s cup of tea), so we weren’t really planning on going this year. However, on Saturday I managed to twist Andrew’s arm and we headed along, but decided to go to a playground slightly out of the way of all the main events and huge crowds. I quickly dressed the kids (and myself) in some impromptu ‘art deco-ish’ outfits. Of course, being the one behind the lense I forgot to take photos of myself… but managed to snap a couple of the kids…

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Isabelle: Those curls, those eyes, the way the light is hitting her face – gorgeous!

Noah: “Mum, take a photo of me” … (2 seconds later … “Mum, stop taking photos of me!”)

Pipi: Loving having her big brother pushing her on the swings

Noah: Enjoying an ice cream at Rush Munro's. It’s been sooo hot here recently that ice creams have been mandatory.

Isabelle: So proud that she’d spread the jam and peanut butter on her own toast. Another favourite flavour combo is avocado-marmite.

Pipi: Cuteness personified. Re-using one of her 9 month update photos.

Please excuse my lack recent blogging. I had these photos ready to post in the weekend, but just didn’t get around to it. I’m having difficulty summoning much blogging energy these days, but I’m sure it will return. I have a lot to blog about, but even opening the laptop lid just feels like a lot of effort – Perhaps me having a smart phone is to blame (it’s so easy just to jump on the net that way), or this heat, or having a school boy with homework and packed lunches etc… I’m sure my blog mojo will return in due course.

POP FACTORY SHOP – Review & Giveaway

I recently discovered Pop Factory Shop and fell in LOVE!
If, like me you love quirky, unique, stylish yet practical kids products then you will LOVE them too!
PF shop
Here’s just a few of their products – gorgeous pillowcases, super hero costumes and fun T-shirts … so much to love!
PF shop 2
Christopher Hope and Bridget Lee are the clever brother-sister team behind Pop Factory Shop. They both have graphic design backgrounds and I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re mega talented. Their products ring true to their "dark but playful aesthetic" and they’ve drawn inspiration from childhood nostalgia.
Given Pop Factory Shop’s all ‘round awesomeness I was surprised that I hadn’t heard of them before (I do consider myself someone with an ear to the ground when it comes to cute stuff for kids), but then I learned that it’s a relatively new venture-  only beginning in August last year. I am amazed that Christopher and Bridget have amassed such a range of high quality items already, I can only imagine what is in store for the future of Pop Factory Shop.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
We were very lucky to be sent a couple of Pop Factory Shop’s gorgeous Little Goldies decals! We’ve used ours on our walls but they could be used on door, helmet, skateboard, bike or book (etc). They all fit within an A5 area and made of a thin gold metallic vinyl.
I  love all of the cute graphics and fun slogans, but decided to choose the hot air balloon one (for Pipi’s hot air balloon bedroom) and ‘La la la loved’ for Noah and Isy’s shared room.

(I think Pipi thought I was just taking photos of her! Such a poser!)

I must really ‘la la la love’ these kids because I dearly wanted to take this one for myself!

Despite some fear that I might stuff it up these Little Goldies were super quick and easy to apply too!
So… I bet you would love to get your hands on a couple Little Goldies decals to adorn your house?
Well, the lovely Bridget of Pop Factory Shop has agreed to give away TWO of these gorgeous decals to ONE of you, my lucky readers!
Here’s how you can enter…
Mandatory Entry: Visit Pop Factory Shop and comment back here with what your favourite product is (you can also tell me which decals you would choose, if you like)
Bonus entries can be gained by ‘liking’ Pop Factory Shop on Facebook, sharing this giveaway on social media (FB/twitter/blog)and following Mend & Make New (one way on another). Please leave a separate comment for each entry!
This giveaway will be open for two weeks, closing Friday 28 Feb 2013. Open to NZ residents only. Prize will be sent out by Pop Factory Shop.
Good luck all!
And thanks once again to Bridget and Christopher for creating such cool things and for making this giveaway possible!

PIPI GRACE–9 months

It’s official! My little Pip-squeak has now been longer ‘out’ than ‘in’!

Pipi Grace 9 months Pipi’s really into her solids now (although she seems to have skipped a stage because she prefers finger food and to drink out of a cup – I guess that’s what happens when you’re trying to keep up with older siblings!)

She is pulling herself up on furniture now and I really think she’s not far off walking! (More evidence to come of this in a future post). Pipi babbles away all the time saying a lot of “Dad-dah-dad-dad” etc which I think is more of just noises at this stage, but I swear she did say “bye” and wave to someone recently – so I’m claiming it!

Pipi had Plunket on Tuesday and was weighed, coming in just under 7kg. She’s pretty little for her age (pretty typical for my babies), but growing well, meeting all her milestones and is very happy! She has 6 teeth now and more coming through I think, but so far they haven’t seem to bother her too much.

(Definitely need to raise the rail on the cot! … Also, do you like my new shoes!)

Future ballerina, perhaps?

…And to compare past months growth check out these photos … (or check previous months' posts)

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014."

Pipi: So cute. Pulling herself up on furniture and everything. Not far from walking I think.

Isabelle: Sleeping as per normal.

Noah: I definitely haven’t been taking as many photos of Noah as I used too. I guess this is to be expected now that he is at school 5 days a week (I’m still getting used to that!) I guess it’s inevitable that any photo of him I snap is likely to be in his uniform… and with Pipi. He still loves that girl to pieces.

Pipi: Everything in the mouth. This cute shot was captured by Tash when we went rock climbing recently.

Isabelle: Loving the swing with Auntie Tash.

Noah: My big school boy intently concentrating on his homework. I’m pretty pleased that the words he is best at picking out are ‘Mum’ and ‘Mother’
