KCW Day 4: Liberty Bloomers & Knit Peasant Top

KCW day 4 collage

Today my  Kid's Clothes Week contribution is brought to you by the letters C and F. ‘C’ for crazy as that is what I must be for setting myself up for another attempt to get this wriggly baby to model my makings and ‘F’ for free patterns, fast sewing and fun fabric.

Both items today were made using free patterns. For the bloomers I used this pattern from See Kate Sew and once again I used this peasant top pattern (except of course I made a top not a dress). The other change I made was that I used knit fabric (really light weight stuff that I picked up from the op shop.) Because it’s knit (and doesn’t fray) I didn’t bother hemming the sleeves and bottom of the top. (I usually do hem knit because I prefer that finish, but due to the light weight fabric and flowy-ness of the top I think it works well here.) So both items were really fast.

This little outfit reminds me of this dress. I used a lot of the beautiful Liberty on that dress so it was good to be able to use some of the remaining scraps on this.
