Handmade Kids Clothing Swap 2014: THE GIVEAWAYS

You might remember that in this post I mentioned the word ‘PRIZES’ – emphasis on the ‘S’ because yes they are plural! There will be one MAIN PRIZE open to anyone in NZ or Australia (swappers and non swappers alike) and two spot prizes just for the swappers! (More on that later in this post).

I am very grateful that some lovely local businesses have got in behind this swap and donated items for this giveaway!

These businesses are:
Pattern Postie, By the Yard and Little Kiwi's Closet.

Before I get to the prizes and how YOU can win, I want to tell you more about these 3 businesses.
First up, Pattern Postie

Pattern Postie is online pattern shop that enables you to buy the latest sewing patterns and get them delivered straight to your door. is owned by the lovely Bronwyn who says this of her business:

The idea for Pattern Postie came to me one day when I was trying to look at sewing patterns with two toddlers in tow- it wasn't easy! I thought there had to be a better way to do it online, as living rurally I don't get to town too often. When I tried to find somewhere to order sewing patterns it soon became obvious that there wasn't much on offer, and so Pattern Postie was born.”

An actual fact, Pattern Postie is much much more than patterns – they also sell sewing machines and cabinets (OK I need one of those cutting tables) and gorgeous buttons and trims.

The second business which has contributed to the prize pool is By the Yard – a gorgeous online fabric store!

By the Yard have an amazing range of over 700 fabrics and make fabric shopping easy as you can choose to shop by ‘category’, ‘colour’ or ‘brand.’ I was going to share my favourites with you but it proved to difficult to just choose ‘a few’ – so I picked my favourites of those featured on the homepage (see above).

I’m also very happy to hear that By the Yard now sell good quality wool felt – I’ve been looking for a supplier for a long time!

This is not the last you’ll hear of By the Yard on here. You can expect to see another post featuring this lovely store and it’s owner, Nicky on here in the next couple of weeks – perhaps also featuring ANOTHER giveaway! (Yes, ANOTHER one! I know!)

And lastly, our final generous business is Little Kiwi's Closet.

I know the lovely Lydia of Little Kiwi's Closet personally and she’s featured on this blog before. I’ve long been amazed by her creativity. She is also one of the swappers!

I love all of Lydia’s PDF patterns, but I think her Beachcomber Pinny tutorial and pattern might just be my current favourite!

You can see more of Lydia and Little Kiwi's Closet on this blog too – Lydia is doing a guest post next week, so stay tuned!

Anywho! About those prizes … this is what YOU could win!

SPOT PRIZES #1 and #2

These are just for the swappers, have been kindly donated by Pattern Postie and will be posted out by me after all swap items have been posted out on 16 June 2014. I’m yet to decide whether these will be randomly drawn or whether people might vote on their favourite swap garments … decisions, decisions! More on this at a later date!

Good luck all and thanks again to our very generous partners who have made these giveaways possible!
Happy sewing!

Next to do on my sewing list: finish the bowling set (which is part of my own blog challenge for May - major fail!), finish a wool coat I started for Miss 5... before winter is over, finish 3 dresses hanging in my bedroom that are just taunting me daily with little cries of 'it will only take a button to finish me'!! and then I get to open my UFO (or as I call it 'work in progress') box to see what is next.

Just a few on the to do list!
