Wardrobe Wednesday: 22 Weeks

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas day? We had a nice relaxing one, enjoyed each other’s company and ate lots of good food.

Today was boxing day here in New Zealand, so we checked out a couple of the boxing day sales in the morning. I got a couple of things, including the maxi dress I’m wearing here which was less than half price.

This afternoon we headed to Waimarama beach and Andrew and the kids dug a ‘pool’ (giant hole) in the sand. We had a lovely time.

I’m wearing: Maxi dress- Just Jeans bought this morning, hat and sun glasses – glassons (from ages ago).

I promise you that I look a lot more pregnant in profile in this dress. I would have posed to highlight the bump a bit more but the beach was pretty crowded and I got a bit shy.

You know it’s basically impossible for me to do a blog post without throwing in a couple of pictures of my adorable kids right?

Christmas Stockings and Cream puffs

These last few days has seen me pull my sewing machine out of hibernation to make the kids a couple of Christmas stockings. I had intended doing a lot more Christmas sewing; but a combination of moving, Spotlight not stocking what I needed and general can’t be bothered-ness kinda put a damper on those plans.

But I was glad to make these easy-peasy stockings for a bit of instant gratification crafting.

I was feeling like doing a spot of baking today too. So made some cream puffs. My first attempt at choux pastry.

Here are the stockings and puffs…

…and… filled*:

Merry Christmas all!

* Obviously the stocking are not currently filled. Santa just wanted to check that all the goodies fit in; as for the cream puffs – those pictured are long gone and the remainder are waiting to be filled tomorrow! Roll on the Christmas feasting I say!

As I mentioned here recently we have just moved into a new house with the newlyweds Toby and Natasha. It’s a lovely big house and pretty much brand new, so it’s quite a change from where we’ve just come from.

The kids are sharing a room for the first time and also have a play room with all their toys in it. I put the finishing touches on the their rooms last night so I thought I’d share some photos here. My main objectives were to store the toys tidily and out of the way and to merge Noah and Isabelle’s decor successfully. I’m really happy with how they turned out.

Here’s the shared bedroom:

(Spot the bump?)

… and the playroom:

The next challenge is seeing how well they sleep when sharing a room! Both are excellent sleepers; but while Isabelle goes down like a little angel, Noah can be a terror at times.

Do you have kids that share rooms, how do you find it?

Christmassy things

I mentioned here the other day that I hadn’t thought much about Christmas yet.

… Then I uploaded the photos off my camera, and I was proven somewhat wrong. It seems bits of Christmas has been sneaking up me, without me noticing it.

1-3: Kiwi Christmas decorations at my Mum's house. (I believe the paua NZ was a previous years handmade present from my brother, Tom.)

4: A Noah and Nana made mini Chistmas cake. (Mainly Nana)

5-6: A little girl, our Christmas tree and a few presents. Both the tree and the presents have been somewhat ‘adjusted’ by the kids. I’ve been on hand with strict instructions about not opening presents early, and armed with tape to fix any ‘accidental’ ripping of the paper.

7: Cherries. A special treat that means Christmas to me.

8-12: Ginger bread treats made today. I always seem to forget how much longer and messier it is baking with kids, but the kids had lots of fun!

I also managed to get a bit of shopping done today so I’m feeling a little more organised now. Andrew’s on holiday now too, so everything’s feeling a little more relaxed and festive around here.

(I’m sure this wont be the last time I’ll say it here), but Merry Christmas all!

Hello Baby!

So… I had my scan today! As I mentioned yesterday baby is currently 21 weeks.

As I also mentioned yesterday we had decided not to find out baby’s gender this time … and I managed to stick to that plan even though part of me was gagging to find out!

Everything looks good and baby was very co-operative, although launched into a massive yawn at one stage. Obviously this scan business was very tiring stuff.

Are you getting in the Christmas spirit? To be honest this Christmas has really crept up on me due to all the moving and everything. I really need to do some last minute shopping! eeek!

Wardrobe Wednesday: 21 weeks

I tried (and failed) at taking some half decent photos for wardrobe Wednesday today. But, on the plus side I did succeed in being photobombed by a 4 year old. Thanks Noah!

Outfit breakdown: dress – Shanton, scarf – from a scarf swap from this lovely lady, jandals – Havaianas

There are a few things to mention about these photos:

1) It has been super hot here today (actually the last few days.) I am desperately trying to not look all hot and bothered in these photos.

2) Did you notice that my bump has suddenly popped out? I’m pretty sure I wasn’t that big, this early with my other pregnancies… (but what do I know, they’re kind of distant memories to my pregnancy hazed brain at the moment.)

3) Not particularly relevant to these photos, but I’m going to throw it in anyway… I have a scan tomorrow!!! The anatomy one where you can find out the babies gender if you want. I found out with both my other kids, but I think we’re going to leave it a surprise this time… although this is going to take some strong will power from me! But I guess if I expect my kids not to open their presents until Christmas, surely I can keep this a surprise, right?

Did you find out with your kid(s)? If not what was it like finding out at your babies birth?

I’m still here!

It’s been a while since I last posted, hasn’t it?

‘Round here we’ve just been a bit busy moving (with limited internet access) and with Toby and Natasha’s wedding which was last Friday.

The professional photos aren’t up yet (I can’t wait to show you some when they are), but for now here are a few photos I’ve stolen off facebook (photo credits to Mollie and Auntie Lyn.)

Whoever said ‘never work with children or animals’ was one smart person, indeed. Just before we left for the ceremony, while we were getting photos by the (amazing) classic cars, Isabelle took it upon herself to jump in a big muddy puddle. Then on the way there her Dad took it upon him self to feed her a lolly – driiible! Thank goodness for an emergency stash of wet wipes!

When we got down the isle at the lovely outdoor venue, Noah decided to lie (and roll) in the gravel and Isabelle decided to fill her little basket with stones! Finally Noah decided it was all a bit of hard work and that his page boy cushion made a good pillow (and Isabelle followed his lead!) It’s hard work being a kid! Being in the bridal party myself, I decided the best approach was to not stress out and hope other’s saw the cute side!

Because I have been out of the loop for so long I thought I take the opportunity to use this post to join in with Wardrobe Wednesday, WiWW and Small Style etc as well.(Two birds with one stone and all that.) Our purple dresses were from, the white fabric flowers in hair from Spotlight and I borrowed the shoes from a friend. These dresses being so floaty (and having a elasticated waist) were very bump friendly. Would you believe I’m 19 weeks in these pics?

Noah’s tux and Isabelle’s white dress were both from Farmers and Isabelle’s cardi was a white one that I dyed purple. I made Noah’s page boy pillow out of burlap (hessian) and lace – this was the decorative theme at the reception, for which we also made a whole lot of table runners. (I hope to show you more pics of this later!)

Of course I couldn’t really do this post without posting a pic of the bride and groom. Don’t they look gorgeous? Amazingly Natasha bought her lovely dress at the op shop for only $150!

I’m sure this is not the last wedding related post I will share here! … And I hope to return to my normal posting frequency as soon as possible.

How have you all been? I’ve missed popping in here, these last couple of weeks!
