{Recycled Round-up} ‘Local’ Talent

recycled round-up

First off I should explain what I mean by ‘local.’ Usually when I do one of these round-ups I get most of the ideas and images and by searching on Pinterest. But this time round I decided to do something different… all the ideas featured in this edition are from blogs I follow, and not Pinterest.

This theme was inspired by Abby from 'Things for Boys' who commented in my last instalment of RR:

“I have found so many uses for old woollen blankets. I even made a coat!

Indeed she did .. and it’s awesome!

What a great new life for an old woollen blanket. It looks so cozy and warm, and must have saved Abby a pretty penny compared to the cost of buying the fabric new (or a new coat!)

Here are some other brilliant upcycling ideas I have spied on your blogs recently:

* Talia Christine's awesome letter holder DIY (made from a thrifted spice rack.)

So handy! And a very helpful tutorial. Now every time I go op-shopping I have my eyes peeled for spice racks.

* Sarah's gorgeous boys hoodie from a repurposed woollen sweater

I especially love the stripey hood

* Stella's transformation of a 'lump of wood' into rustic bookends

Aren’t they just delightful?

And finally, this last one comes from my son, with something he made at kindy…

*Noah’s car made from recycled wood scraps and milk bottle lids:

They’re starting this young with this recycling business these days.

I’m so glad Abby commented last time around with a link to her coat (I follow her blog, but somehow had missed that post.)

… So if you have made something by reusing or repurposing something else then please share by commenting here… You never know I may feature it in a future instalment of RR, and then you’d be ‘famous’ (he he) like these people!

Or perhaps you’ve seen a great idea on another blog or Pinterest… I would love to hear about that too!

And for the other editions of the Recycled Round-up see here.

Thanks for the feature, Jen! I loooove those bookends. We're off on a long drive tomorrow so I'm going to keep my eyes open for tree stumps on the side of the road.

I have made a coat from blankets too I dyed them and did some wool felting on one of my WW posts when it was snowing. I so agree with your WW post about gumboots too - need to have pretty ones!
